Our poor, poor Grand Am...

The insurance company called with news. Seems that the insurance adjuster was finally granted permission by police to inspect our car, and the insurance broker called with the verdict. Apparently the Grand Am has been deemed a total loss, and is beyond repair.

For us, this means that we have 24 hours to pick-up our leftover belongings that are still in the car, and then I'm guessing they'll take care of whatever happens to the Grand Am after this. We've been told that they'll appraise it, and then write my bank a cheque for a value that they deem as fair. Either way it won't cover the entire amount of the loan, meaning we'll be stuck without a car, and a good 4-5 thousand dollars owing to the bank.

To add insult to injury, we get 48 hours after the bank receives the cheque from the insurance company, to clear up any loose ends, and then we have to return the rental car. So basically we pay thousands of dollars to our insurance company every year, just to be left without a car, or any way to even get to work, just because some little dick decides he feels like going for a joyride one night, and that he prefers to do it with a strangers' car.

Needless to say I'm harbouring a lot of bad feelings for the little prick who stole our car, and I'm certainly not impressed by the process the insurance company is putting us through. We, the victims, are left high and dry without transportation, with a big debt, and lastly no remnants of the Christmas cheer we felt until last Tuesday, while the little prick gets away with a slap on the wrist, and will most likely be eating cookies on Christmas morning with his family, while we're left to try to figure out a way to get to work next week.

Real justice would be making him pay for the money we're out, thanks to his stupidity and selfishness and general disrespect for other people and their property.
