Merry Christmas, your car just got stolen...

Ottawa police arrested four youths after an undercover operation turned into a movie-style pursuit involving collisions with cops cars, a narrow escape for an officer and a foot chase.

Ottawa police spotted a stolen car in a parking lot in the Ritchie St. area at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday and attempted to block it in, but the driver rammed two unmarked cop cars in an effort to escape.

A plainclothes officer then moved in to try to arrest the driver, but narrowly avoided being run over as the vehicle fled again.

The escaping vehicle then continued onto Ahearn Ave. where it collided head-on with another unmarked police vehicle that was arriving on the scene.

The four occupants then fled on foot. Three were arrested immediately, and the driver was apprehended soon after.

All four are young offenders and are in custody.

One officer received a minor injury to his right wrist in one of the collisions.

The investigation is continuing.

The stolen car that the authors of this article of the Ottawa Sun are referring to, belongs to us - my dear husband and me. We went to the gym on Tuesday night, and while we were working out, these "youths" broke into my husband's locker, stole our car keys, and made off with our car. I feel so violated. So mad.

This is our first Christmas as husband and wife...yup, that's right, we're newlyweds. This will definitely be a memorable Christmas for us for sure - afterall we're driving a rental car, out a day's pay each because we couldn't go to work without a vehicle, and you can scratch Christmas gifts off the list - we now have to pay an insurance deductible instead. Thanks "youths", Merry Christmas to you too!

I really do hope that these "youths" are prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and that they will not get away with a slap on the wrist. They committed and adults' crime, so I hope they'll have to do an adults' time as well, and not try to hide behind the fact that they are underage.
